Lucciola Lambruschini ’13 learned about Shenandoah University through Valley Health and decided to continue her education at the university because of its convenient location. However, location is not the only thing that Lambruschini learned to love about Shenandoah.
“SU is very diverse, has great professors and what I enjoyed the most was having real cases to work on, where local businesses asked for our advice,” said Lambruschini.
Lambruschini’s fondest memory of Shenandoah was traveling to Nantes, France, over spring break with a class led by former Associate Dean and Professor of Management RT Good, Ph.D. She also enjoyed her health care administration, project management, marketing and human resources classes with Professor Good and having class with both graduate and undergraduate students.
Lambruschini is the director of dental services for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, in Washington, D.C. In this position, she oversees the dental services with the Catholic Charities, where she splits her job between treating patients and the behind-the-scenes administration work. With the administrative part of her job, Lambruschini recruits volunteers, cooperates with fundraising, participates monthly on the Catholic Charities’ radio show to spread oral health awareness, reviews the budget/purchases and works with local dental schools to coordinate their rotations in their facilities in order to help more patients in need.
The most rewarding part of Lambruschini’s career is when patients thank her for fixing their smiles or taking care of their pain. “I really enjoy my job and the opportunity to serve those in need,” said Lambruschini. “It is very rewarding to see how our work can impact someone’s life. Moreover, giving them the tools to improve their oral health as well as taking care of their well being.”
Lambruschini’s Shenandoah education prepared her for her career because even though she already had a degree from dental school, Shenandoah gave her the management skills to lead a staff and plan for projects in her position as director. The human resources and marketing skills were the highlight of what she learned while receiving her Master of Business Administration from the Shenandoah University School of Business. “I am very thankful to SU BSB,” said Lambruschini.
Lambruschini’s advice to students is: “To pursue their dreams no matter how impossible they are and be persistent.”
